To provide surf lifesaving services to Mermaid Beach is the main reason for the Club’s existence. These services are provided through 13 patrol groups manned by approximately 240 active members. Typically, these members conduct a half day patrol of our beach approximately every 3 weeks. Each patrol group does one external patrol per season to assist other clubs in need of life saving support.
Each patrol requires members with different qualifications in order to function properly.
Members can gain qualifications through courses and awards conducted by the Club and SLSQ.
The pages under Surf Life Saving contain details of surf life saving coordination and the life saving qualifications and awards offered by Mermaid Beach Surf Life Saving Club.
This includes:
- Information on the comprehensive training and nationally recognised qualification program available to members who are actively involved in beach patrols, surf sports, carnivals and related surf lifesaving activities
- Patrol information and the current patrol roster
- Proficiency information for active members
