DAWN PATROL REPORT 26.11.11
The following club members attended a dawn patrol at Surfers Paradise Beach.
GREG MORETON, SCOTT MORETON, SIMON AMERY, DONNA JONES, DARBY JONES, BRIANA JONES, SANDY PLAYNE, BROZNAN PLAYNE, SEAN FITZGERALD, MONIQUE DELL, CALLUM HEALTH and ALEX FLATLEY
It was a early meet a Mermaid beach SLSC 5.15am for an action packed day starting at surfers at 6am to 12.30pm. Peter Anderson from Surfers was our contact and patrol captain for the early part of the day.
A few highlights of the day were channel nine paid a visit to the beach to watch QSLSA place dye in the water to show beach goers where the rips where. West Pac helicopters made a visit which kept the crowds interested. Monique spent most of the time in the IRB patrolling the back breaks. She must have been tired towards the end of the day. She loves those boats. Sean helped a swimmer in the wave zone who was heading out through a rip, good work Sean. Good preventable action. Scott & Callum tried out the new dolphin rescue boards that Surfers had for a trial. The word was all good I believe Callum caught a great wave and made a great get out of jail recovery. All other members keep the lookout tower maned and the edge of the water patrolled keeping up the tradition of being helpful to the many question asked during the day. Plus photo shoots from the many visitors. One schoolie decided to do a triple backward somersault and paid the price. Scott filled out the report together with first aid treatment R.I.C.E procedure. Good work.
All said and done the day was a great experience by all and I know Peter was extremely thankful for the help as the patrol ran very smoothly. He told me to say job well done and was a commendable effort for those who helped. I informed him that we will be doing another one in January.
As you can see plenty happens at Surfers.
See you all at the next Dawn Patrol.
Regards
Greg Moreton
