Robina student all-rounder, Alex MacKenzie-Templar is recognised as an excellent sportsman, a top grade student and now a Telstra Local Youth Hero.
Alex adds his new title to his extensive collection of certificates and awards for rugby union, lifesaving, water polo, kayaking, canoeing and iron man competitions.
Telstra Country Wide Area General Manager for the Gold Coast, Darren Clark, said the Telstra Local Youth Hero campaign has been set up to help local up and coming stars, like Alex, succeed in their various endeavours. Download the full release below...
31 July 2011 - Mermaid Beach AEME Surf Life Saving Club Wins Youth Development Club Of The Year For Queensland
Last Saturday night Surf Life Saving Queensland announced Mermaid Beach Surf Life Saving Club as the Youth Development Club of the Year. This is a proud honour for the club, recognising its contribution towards improving and developing our youth of today and what they can offer for the future. Of 59 surf clubs in Queensland Mermaid Beach was rated the best in youth development over the l2010/2011 season just finished. The Club will now go onto the Surf Life Saving Australia awards in Sydney to represent Queensland. Download the full release below...
7 August 2011 - A rising star in Mermaid Beach Surf Life Saving Club – Emma Dick
Mermaid Beach is best known for Hedges Avenue, ‘Millionaires Row’, but a young woman is starting to put the Gold Coast suburb and her surf life saving club on the sporting map. Emma Dick is a member of the Mermaid Beach Surf Life Saving Club and has added Australian and State surf lifesaving medals at her already impressive achievements on athletics and hockey.
